·         Muranov, Chernyakov and Partners again became the organizer of the Russian Arbitration Day conference together with the International Commercial Arbitration Court and the Maritime Arbitration Committee at the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Russian Federation.

·         Alexander Muranov co-edited the collection of articles “New Horizons of International Arbitration. Issue 2”, which was issued by “Infotropic Media” publishing house following the Russian Arbitration Day conference (arbitrationday.ru).

·         Thanks to our firm, the issuance of “International Commercial Arbitration Review” journal was resumed, its website was launched (arbitrationreview.ru).

·         Our firm’s specialists resumed the issuance of the Competition Law News Digest together with “М-Logos” institute of law.

·         Senior Associate of the firm, Olga Benedskaya, became a reporter of the ICAC.

·         Our firm concluded an agreement about long-term information cooperation with the Moscow division of the All-Russia public organization “Association of Lawyers of Russia”.

2013

·         10th anniversary of Muranov, Chernyakov & Partners law firm.

·         Thanks to the lawyers of Muranov, Chernyakov & Partners, the Constitutional Court of the Russian Federation ordered to review the judicial acts in the case ОАОAK Transnefteprodukt v. ОАОOil Company Lukoil.

·         The firm opened the Mediation Center rosmediation.ru, with its head being the Senior Associate Dmitry Davydenko.

·         At the Law Firm Awards 2013 held by Legal Success journal, Muranov, Chernyakov & Partners law firm became the winner in the category “Scientific and Enlightenment Activity” for the second successive year.

·         The firm’s managing partner Alexander Muranov prepared the report on activities of the Maritime Arbitration Commission (MAC) at the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Russian Federation for 2012, published in February 2013.

·         The Senior Associate of the firm, Rafael Kostanyan, co-authored the textbook of the Tax Academy at the Ministry of Finance of Russia for the course in financial law, which was issued in February.

·         Alexander Muranov co-authored the textbook Modern International Commercial Arbitration issued by MGIMO-University publishing house.

·         The Senior Associate of Muranov, Chernyakov & Partners law firm and Assistant Professor of the National Research University Higher School of Economics, Dmitry Davydenko, was put on the list of the 85th International WHO’s WHO of Professionals digest for 2013.

2012

·         The firm’s lawyers set an absolute record in terms of the amount of recovered legal costs in Russia – USD 1 mln. The court recovered over 28 mln. rubles and USD 121 thousand from Billa retailer.

·         The firm’s partner Dmitry Chernyy got the qualification of the Member of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators with the right to use the qualification abbreviation МCIArb. 

·         Muranov, Chernyakov & Partners presented its analysis of Russia’s commitments in 16 services sectors which led to the launching of www.russia-wto.ruwebsite intended to clarify Russia’s commitments to the WTO in the sphere of goods and services. The analysis of consequences of Russia’s accession to the WTO for the Russian legal business also resulted in creation of www.wto-legalservices.ruInternet-project. 

·         Since June 2012 Muranov, Chernyakov & Partners law firm has been representing the interests of a group of deputies of the RF State Duma who addressed the Constitutional Court of the Russian Federation with a request to check compliance of the Protocol of Russia’s accession to the WTO with the RF Constitution.

·         The firm's Senior Associate, Dmitry Davydenko, was appointed Assistant Professor of the Chair of Theory of Law and Comparative Law of the National Research University Higher School of Economics. In 2012 academic year Dmitry was reading the special course Legal Conflictology, Mediation and Conciliation for the students.

·         The guidelines for application of the Hague conventions concerning the private international law and international civil procedure prepared by our managing partner Alexander Muranov were published in the Federal Chamber of Lawyers Review No.3 2012.

·         Thanks to the lawyers of Muranov, Chernyakov & Partners, in November the Constitutional Court of the Russian Federation ordered to review the judicial acts in the case of ОАОAK Transnefteprodukt (for recovery from this company of funds in favor of ОАОOil Company Lukoil) in light of inconsistency between the RF Constitution and the case law of commercial courts concerning interpretation of the law on effect of the RF Constitutional Court judgments.

·         In October we co-organized the conference “Russia in the World Trade Organization: New Instruments of Business Protection” together with ICC Russia and ОАО“World Business Center”.

·         Muranov, Chernyakov & Partners became finalists of The Lawyer European Awards 2012 in the category “Law Firm of the Year in Russia and the CIS.”

·         Our Senior Associate Dmitry Davydenko co-authored the monograph Mediation. Principles and Practice in Comparative Perspective of Oxford University Press publishing house issued in November 2012 under the editorship of the specialists from the Institute for Comparative and International Private Law (Hamburg).

·         In December we launched the Internet-project meant to explain the practical aspects of applying to the Constitutional Court of the Russian Federation (RF CC) with questions concerning business regulation www.kslitigation.ru.

·         A new Internet-resource was launched under management of Alexander Muranov — the e-library of legal documents “Nauka Prava” www.naukaprava.ru.

·         In Pravo.Ru December rating of law firms we were named the market leaders in such categories as “International Arbitration” (the 2ndgroup), “Arbitration” (the 1st group), “Competition (Antimonopoly) Law” (the 2nd Group), “Natural Resources” (the 2nd group).

2011

·         The number of lawyers and attorneys exceeded 30 persons. Our staff keeps growing — this year the number of lawyers increased by 16 %, the number of back office staff increased by 6.5 %, with the total number of the firm’s employees growing by 12.3 %.

·         The new firm’s website was launched in April 2011.

·         In April 2011 the managing partner Alexander Muranov was elected member of the Council of the Federal Chamber of Lawyers.

·         Oleg Moskvitin, the firm’s Senior Associate, obtained the attorney’s status.

·         The firm’s legal practice was recommended for cooperation by the leading international directories The Legal 500, Chambers Europe, PLC Which Lawyer?.

·         The firm was also recommended for cooperation by The Legal 500 in the corporate law sphere.

·         The firm was recognized the best Russian law firm in the dispute resolution sphere in the category The Client’s Choice (according to clients’ feedbacks) of Global Awards 2011 held by the British Corporate INTL Magazine.

·         The firm’s managing partner, Alexander Muranov, was for the second successive year named finalist in the category “Partner of the Year” of one of the most famous European award, The British Legal Awards, set up by Legal Week journal.

·         In the rating of “SekretFirmy” journal (“Kommersant” publishing house) we took the 8th place and were named one of 10 major law firms in Russia.

·         In December rating of Pravo.Ru TOP-50 law firms of Moscow we were named one of the market leaders in such categories as “International Arbitration” (included into the 1st group), “Arbitration” (the 2nd group), “Commercial Real Estate/Construction” (the 1st group), “Corporate Practice”.

·         On the session of Presidium of the Maritime Arbitration Commission (the MAC) at the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Russian Federation on 29 December 2011, the managing partner of Muranov, Chernyakov & Partners, А.I. Muranov, was elected Vice-Chairman of the said MAC at the RF Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

·         Infotropic Media publishing house issued the book International Commercial Arbitration: the Experience of Domestic Regulation. The lawyers and other employees of Muranov, Chernyakov & Partners law firm took part in preparation of the book, which was compiled and edited by А.I. Muranov.

·         In cooperation with the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Russian Federation, the firm’s lawyers contributed to the RF Constitutional Court issuing the Decree No. 10-Пdated 26 May 2011 which strengthened the status of arbitral tribunals in the Russian Federation.

·         The geographical range of the company’s activity broadened both in Russia (from Mineralnie Vody to Salekhard, including Bryansk, Voronezh, Ekaterinburg, Krasnodar, N. Novgorod, Omsk, Perm, Saint-Petersburg, Samara, Syktyvkar, Khanty-Mansiysk, Chelyabinsk, etc.) and abroad (from New York to Ulan Bator, including Amsterdam, Warsaw, Geneva, London, Luxembourg, Prague, Helsinki, Zurich, etc.)

·         The firm’s lawyers took part in drafting the law “On Amendments to Certain Legislative Acts of the Russian Federation Due to Development of the Mediation Procedures” (on introduction of the court mediation institution into the arbitration procedure) prepared by the Supreme Commercial (Arbitrazh) Court of the Russian Federation. This draft law is expected to be sent to the State Duma of the Russian Federation in the nearest time.

·         The firm’s partner, Dmitry Chernyy, was put on the shortlist of the special project “Vedomosti. Man of the Year2011".

2010

·         The firm’s practice was recommended by such international legal directories as The Legal 500 (2010) and PLC Which Lawyer? (2010).

·         The Legal 500 (2010) also recommended the corporate practice of Muranov, Chernyakov & Partners.

·         A diploma in the category “For Scientific and Enlightenment Activity” was conferred on the firm, which won the competition of the Corporate Lawyer journal.

·         The firm became a laureate of The Lawyer European Awards in the category Law Firm of the Year: Russia & the CIS.

·         Muranov, Chernyakov & Partners took the 9th place of all Russian law firms and the 17th place of all Russian and foreign law firms operating on the Russian market in the rating of Pravo.ru web portal.

·         The geographical range of the company’s activity broadened to include the Netherlands, the British Virgin Islands, Luxembourg.

2009

·         The number of partners was increased from three to five persons and a new supreme management body was set up — the Council of Partners.

·         The block of organization and business development was formed, including PR- and marketing departments. The director of the said block became member of the Council of Partners.

·         The Information Service was formed with the purpose to provide the employees with all necessary information for work under the projects, starting from amendments to federal laws and finishing with mass media materials.

·         The tax practice was formed, with its scope including a full range of legal services in the tax law sphere, inter alia, the issues of corporate taxation, taxation of trade, tax planning, tax disputes, etc.

·         The firm received the international award of The Corporate INTL Magazine as the best Russian law firm in the dispute resolution sphere.

·         The number of attorneys and lawyers exceeded 20 persons.

2008

·         In November the firm moved into its own building in the historical center of Moscow (the German Quarter).

2007

·         The corporate practice was formed, with its scope including a full range of legal services in the corporate law sphere, inter alia, mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, corporate management and internal control, restructuring, privatization, etc.

2006

·         HR-department was formed.

2004

·         The Institute of Private International and Comparative Law was established. Certain results of the Institute’s studies were published as articles (over forty ones) in the leading legal journals, with the other being voiced on Russian and international conferences. Six scientific books were published with immediate participation of the Institute. We started cooperating with Max Planck Institute for Comparative and International Private Law in Hamburg ― the leading European scientific center in the respective field.

2003

·         А. I. Muranov and D. N. Chernyakov who had previously worked in “Monastyrsky, Zyuba, Stepanov and Partners”, established Muranov, Chernyakov & Partners law firm.

·         One of the key areas of the firm’s activity became the court representation of clients (chiefly ― commercial organizations). One of the most well-known projects of the firm at that time was the court dispute between ОАО“Severnaya Neft” and a group of major oil companies because of a tender for fields’ development. The said dispute consisted of over a hundred proceedings in different regions of Russia. It ended up in a victory of ОАО“Severnaya Neft” which managed to defend its right to use the oil fields with full legal support of the firm’s attorneys and lawyers.
